There is expected to be significant growth in liquefied natural gas over the next few years, as global capacity is set to rise, particularly in the USA and Australia.
However, speculation emerges from the rate of demand, which is not increasing at the same speed.
If this demand does not pick up, the oversupply period could last years, increasing pressure on the NBP.
“US LNG, low oil prices and more LNG produced closer to Asia will weigh on prices, especially the NBP given its ability to pick up the LNG slack,” Nick Campbell, analyst at Inspired Energy said.
