Eyes on the horizon – What did our first 2024 webinar foresee?

Over 400 people registered to our first webinar of the year, where Dr Michelle de Jongh, Emma Hird and Rob Leak shared their insights on what some of the most impactful upcoming industry events are likely to be.

A start of a new year is a chance to reflect and review what Inspired’s clients can expect from 2024.

Over 400 people registered to our first webinar of the year, where Dr Michelle de Jongh, Emma Hird and Rob Leak shared their insights on what some of the most impactful upcoming industry events are likely to be.

Unsurprisingly, net-zero efforts are well underway in most organisations. 71% of the attendees to take part in our polls on the day stated to have a net-zero strategy in house.

Accurate and comprehensive reporting plays an essential role in decarbonising your operations. One of the main topics of our webinar was Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR). Although there are no changes to this scheme yet, movement can be seen in the horizon as the role of voluntary information grows.

Complying with SECR may be an obligation but can be turned into an opportunity to structure your energy reduction plan and focus your organisation’s emissions reduction efforts. Inspired’s SECR service can capture and store your data for reporting while increasing transparency for investors.

Then Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) took centre stage. This information is timely for many with the recent changes to ESOS Phase 3 and Phase 4 and as companies that have been previously covered by under their ISO 50001 certification will now need to submit an ESOS report, publish an action plan, and comply with annual reporting.

Inspired’s ESOS service can help you fulfil your compliance requirements. We have completed more than 1,600 site surveys for over 450 clients, resulting in over £120m in energy cost savings.

Another key topic of the day was sustainability reporting, where we learned that proper preparation pays dividends.

Audience polls demonstrated that Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) matters are puzzling many organisations as stakeholder interest in organisations’ strategy and performance from this perspective is only growing.

42% of our poll respondents did not know if they were able to communicate their business strategy from an ESG perspective, while only 40% of the attendees stated they have in-house capabilities to prepare their ESG disclosures

Although sustainability reporting can be a struggle at the start, if an organisation invests enough resources in setting their reporting in motion this short-term pain becomes long-term gain.

Inspired offers a comprehensive ESG disclosure service, where our experts support you in making the disclosure process as simple and streamlined as possible.
