Inspired’s Beach Clean Up

As part of the Marine Conservation Society's Great British Beach Clean 2022, volunteers from the Inspired PLC Group participated in a beach clean at Blackpool Beach.

As part of the Marine Conservation Society’s Great British Beach Clean 2022, thousands of people across the UK have dedicated their time this September to achieve a cleaner, better-protected and healthier ocean.

Urgent action is needed if we are to keep oceans as a fundamental resource for human life. Oceans cover 70% of our planet and we rely on them for food, energy and water, which is why it’s so important to take action and protect them.

On 17th September, volunteers from the Inspired PLC Group participated in a beach clean at Blackpool Beach. Team members involved in the project were eager to participate and make a positive impact. Together their efforts resulted in 9.8kgs of litter being removed from the environment, which is equivalent to the weight of a river otter!

Inspired volunteer Lauren Grice said,

“We are proud to have been able to help make a difference at Blackpool Beach today and keep it litter-free for people to enjoy.”

We would like to extend a special thank you to Blackpool Sealife Centre who kindly provided all the equipment and taught us about the importance of preserving marine life. We really appreciate the opportunity, away from our everyday roles, to make a positive impact in our local community.

It is the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 14 – Life below water – and is one of the 17 SDGs which Inspired has aligned with to help us embed positive ESG behaviours within our company culture.

We can all do our bit for the environment. Next time you visit nature, whether a beach or a forest, make sure to clean up after yourselves.
