Public sector funding

Financial support for public sector organisations

There are a few funding schemes which are dedicated to supporting the public sector to reduce their carbon emissions in line with the UK government’s 2050 net-zero target.

In recent years, these schemes have been released, usually in phases and under a timed application period, to provide financial support against the delivery of efficiency and heat decarbonisation projects.

Inspired already work with over 1,200 public sector organisations, helping many of them to reduce their carbon footprint on their path to net-zero, so we are well equipped to support your organisation with any applications and project fulfilment.

Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme

Details of Phase 4 of the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) have been released.

£1.17billion funding has been allocated for public sector organisations to decarbonise over the next four years.

The key difference for Phase 4 in comparison to previous phases is the grant allocation process. Applications will be assessed through a targeted allocation process and funding will be allocated to projects that deliver the best value for money with the most carbon emission reductions.

Inspired can assess whether your organisation is eligible and can support you in preparing a successful application, taking care of the admin and making sure that you’re given the best possible chance of receiving funding.

We can conduct feasibility studies and prepare investment-grade proposals for any efficiency projects, identifying suitable technologies that would benefit your organisation and result in the most carbon savings. If approved, we can project manage your energy efficiency projects for you. We will oversee implementation and any ongoing maintenance of your projects – just leave it to us.

Low Carbon Skills Fund (LCSF)

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has made funding available to help public sector organisations in developing plans to reduce their heating-related carbon emissions. The LCSF scheme will provide financial support to help approved applicants to create or improve their Heat Decarbonisation Plan.

Inspired has a great success rate on submitted applications to the LCSF scheme. Funding is usually awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis, so it is really important to submit your application as soon as possible once the application window opens.
