A day in the life
Want to know more about working at Inspired?
In my role as Senior Central Operations Manager, my team and I work daily on projects to improve business processes and deliver technical training to the Assurance Services divisions.
Each day can look quite different as the projects I work on often span several months. I am involved from the beginning of a project when the first step of finding a problem is discussed, then talking through ideas on how processes could work better, mapping out potential solutions and working with experts and stakeholders throughout the business to implement improved processes.
I love that in my role I can work with, and learn from, professionals across Inspired. With every project I work on, I get a lot of job satisfaction as we get step by step closer to implementing improvements to business processes.
As well as process improvements, my team deliver technical training and a big part of this is the New Starter Training Pathway. My team and I are proud of the training pathway we’ve created that guides new Assurance Services Analysts through their first eight weeks in the business and builds a strong foundation for them to continue to build on within their teams. My team and I continually look to expand and improve our training offering to meet the needs of the business.
A big part of my role is managing my fantastic team. We are all enthusiastic about training, quality and process improvements and it’s wonderful seeing them succeed, both independently and as a team.
I joined the industry 13 years ago in a data management role and was hooked from day one. Initially problem–solving and working on developing best practice within my own role, I then moved into team management seven years ago to work with my teams to do the same.
For some reason a lot of the advice I’ve received and love to pass on are animal–related (“two birds and one stone”, “how to eat an elephant” etc) but my favourite, which I put into practice regularly, is to “Eat that frog.”
My “to do”–list, both at work and home can get lengthy and I need to prioritise daily. “Eat that frog” is the process of finding your most difficult task of the day and completing it before you do any other work. This positively sets up my day and builds momentum for the other tasks on my list. Sorry Kermit!
I am married, and we have two children, one dog and three guinea pigs (the guinea pigs weren’t my idea but inevitably it’s not my son who cleans out their cages!)
My family keeps me busy outside of work but when I get some “me-time” it often involves binge watching Grey’s Anatomy or Disney vlogs! In 2023, we went on our once-in-a-lifetime holiday to Walt Disney World… but the magic is real, and we’re going back next year!
