A day in the life
Want to know more about working at Inspired?
I work in the Estate Intensive team as a Senior Account Manager. My core role is working closely with my clients to ensure their needs are met and any queries are responded to and resolved in a satisfactorily and timely manner.
Most of my clients procure their energy via flexible frameworks and as such it is my responsibility to keep them updated regularly with regards to commodity market movement, drivers and influences and discussing where it may be prudent to secure forward positions.
In addition to the above, I am also responsible for ensuring that future utility contract tenders are actioned in good time ahead of renewals and I am supported in this aim by the pricing team. Once the tenders have been completed, it is my responsibility to present the analysis to the customers to ensure they understand the presented products, are fully informed with regards to the product mechanisms and are comfortable with the recommendations.
Furthermore, I act as facilitator to ensure that the other teams who provide services to my clients are kept up to date with any account changes to ensure they can deliver the best service to my clients.
Finally, it is my responsibility to ensure a constant top-class service is provided and maintained to my clients, so they feel valued and more likely to remain with us in the future. This also involves considering the Inspired products and services the client would further benefit from so they can be supported comprehensively by multiple departments and not just at a procurement level.
I enjoy the day–to–day challenges the role brings, getting stuck in with queries, resolving issues and getting a thank you from clients. I really enjoy working with my colleagues in the Estate Intensive team, there is a huge amount of invaluable knowledge and experience in the team which is often shared.
Marketwise, the team has been through some wild times, and we must continue to support each other through the tough times.
I also enjoy reviewing markets, discussing strategies and undertaking trades via the PM platform (although this scared me to death when I first came over from Energy and Carbon Management!).
Furthermore, it’s a great feeling to see a signed agreement come through from a customer – especially when this may have been won through a challenging tender and/or negotiation.
Finally, the people at Inspired: my colleagues and friends. These people make working here really great!
Very simply, I went for an interview when I was 24 at a local consultancy in my hometown. I started off working in fixed price procurement as an administrator before moving over to bureau, which I really enjoyed (and still dip in and out of, just don’t tell my boss!). I have worked in an account management function in various guises ever since.
Be kind.
I live with my family in the South West after moving from Birmingham to Bristol originally, and I’ve lived down here for over ten years now.
I enjoy spending time with the family, tending to the garden, occasionally playing the guitar, listening to records and enjoying the occasional glass of wine.
My latest gardening feat is planting some fruit trees following a bumper harvest from my plum tree this year.
