A day in the life
Want to know more about working at Inspired?
I’m a Water AMR Account Manager; I manage a small team within the Water AMR Department and manage ongoing Automatic Meter Reader (AMR) projects.
This involves liaising with water companies and third parties to ensure Limpet Readers are fitted without any issues; a Limpet Reader is a water meter reader that provides actual meter reads remotely for billing purposes.
I look after the maintenance of these devices by checking for malfunctioning Limpet Readers, arrange site visits and liaise with the Account Managers to ensure a smooth process for everyone involved.
What’s more, I’m currently training Inspired colleagues outside our team about the Water AMR Department and showing them how we can help our clients to realise their water goals with effective monitoring.
I also regularly connect with our clients to share project updates, make sure they are satisfied with our service and implement improvements if required.
I enjoy working with people, and collaborating with colleagues and clients alike forms a great deal of my role. I also revel in getting results by ensuring our clients are receiving their meter reads and this process is working seamlessly throughout.
Moreover, completing an AMR Water project and seeing how much value this solution creates for a client is immensely rewarding.
For example, we recently completed a project of over 700 stores resulting in some fantastic cost and carbon savings – estimated at £122k and over 5kg CO2e annually.
I ended up in this industry by default, really! I started as a receptionist in a water company based in South Wales in 1993. I then worked my way up through the ranks before becoming an AMR Water Services Manager.
After being made redundant in 2025 I really wanted to stay within the water industry, and I am pleased to say that Inspired gave me that opportunity.
Be a team player with a positive attitude: It is important to build trust and rapport with your colleagues – this creates a more enjoyable and less stressful environment. Being supportive with your team makes everyone feel more valued and motivated.
I was born in South Wales and have happily lived here all my life. I’m also happily married and have a teenage boy, who keeps me on my toes! If I’m not working or acting as a taxi service for my son, I enjoy meeting up with friends for a catchup and a few glasses of wine.
I’m also a keen walker and try to head out as often as I can, but this is a very weather-dependent activity in Wales!
When travelling further afield, family holidays are important to me, so we try and get away to spend quality time together at least once a year – our next stop is Montenegro, and I can’t wait to visit for the first time!
