A day in the life
Want to know more about working at Inspired?
As a Digital Marketing & Communications Manager I’m responsible for owning the Inspired Group’s online presence and communications.
This includes all our digital platforms such as the website, social media profiles, paid advertising and our online visibility. Essentially, all digital touch points where prospects and customers interact with our brands.
My typical day involves trawling the Inspired virtual media space, whether this means commenting or reacting on LinkedIn before posting the latest piece of content – a blog, pictures from an event or campaign messaging. I spend a lot of time on LinkedIn!
I also continuously monitor how our ads and website are performing. No two days are the same and we’re always pushing to innovate our online activity.
Another side of my work is reviewing what comms we are sending. It may be something internal, such as our staff newsletter InTouch, or external, such as client emails.
All my days are completely different! I love the variety of working across all our brands, creating and delivering content across multiple channels.
I feel very fortunate to work with so many teams across the business. I love meeting new people, and in my role I get a chance to liaise with so many talented and interesting people who make my work enjoyable every day.
I believe life is too short for a job you hate. I can honestly say I love what I do and I’m very grateful to be able to do something I feel so passionate about, with some fantastic colleagues!
Anyone who knows me will tell you I’m all about giving my colleagues the hype they deserve, so I’ve also recently joined the Employee Engagement Committee to make sure their fantastic efforts and initiatives are promoted effectively.
I got my first job fresh out of university as a copywriter for a digital agency. I had graduated with a Journalism degree from the University of Central Lancashire and wanted a role where I could apply my writing and research skills.
Over the years I worked for various digital agencies, gaining experience and knowledge across all aspects of digital marketing. I worked for some big well-known brands such as Nokia and Red Bull. I eventually decided to go in-house – and have never looked back!
I’ve now been working in digital for over 14 years and it’s safe to say the industry has changed considerably. I’ve always had to stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies. I’ve loved every minute of it and can’t imagine how different things would be had I gone down the journalism route instead.
“Set the bar and then exceed it.”
I’m my own worst critic. I’m incredibly meticulous, I don’t like to make mistakes and I’m always pushing myself to do better. I work hard and set high standards and expectations for myself because I believe you should always try your best in every aspect of life.
But praise is key; we often get too caught up to press pause and reflect if we’ve done a good job. Give yourself some credit on what you’ve accomplished – saying ‘well done’ isn’t said enough but can make someone’s day.
I am a proud Lancashire lass, wife and mother of two girls. When I’m not a taxi service for my children, I play netball – which I have done now for over 20 years.
As a family, we care about doing our small part in helping to save the planet, so we love taking part in the Beach Cleans Inspired organises.
The scariest thing I’ve ever done was jumping out of a plane at 13,000 ft to do a tandem skydive – it was insane and amazing at the same time and would highly recommend it!
