A day in the life
Want to know more about working at Inspired?
I’m an Account Manager, working with a mix of approximately 50 clients from manufacturing to schools, offices and retail. I work with both Fixed and Flexible procurement strategies.
I’m the main point of contact for my clients, discussing all aspects of Inspired services from procurement (contract negotiation) to pricing and query management.
One of the key aspects of my role is working with our clients to understand their unique requirements for that all-important added value. Building a rapport and relationship with our clients is crucial – trust is key.
I love that I have a good mix of clients I work with, every day is a learning day! I enjoy talking to people and building up a trusting relationship with our client base and our supplier contacts. I have worked with many of my clients for over 15 years.
Although my job is essentially sales, I do see it more as an opportunity for us to grow with our clients and find what services are the best fit for them. I enjoy doing a deeper dive into my clients’ operations. Rather than just looking at pricing and figures alone, it’s important to understand our clients and what’s important to them.
I fell into it by chance straight from Secretarial School at College. I actually started as an Audio/Copy Typist, if anyone remembers those! I’m a great touch-typer and used to have to do shorthand and dictation – technology is more advanced these days. In college we had typewriters with carbon paper!
I have been with the Inspired Group since 1993. I worked my way up from Administration through to Account Management back in 1996, starting with Non-Half Hourly clients. Definitely learnt on the job! I’ve seen many changes over the years. One example is how the technologies are changing all the time. My current favourite is Circuit Level Monitoring!
“Look after your portfolio like you are your own Managing Director”, and “People buy from people!” – I always like to be personable.
I am an avid paper crafter, specialising in card-making. Christmas Fairs are a particularly busy time of year for me. I love to colour, but with professional alcohol markers, such as Copics (think Manga cartoons) – creating a 3D image from colour, with depth. I’m known for my love of glitter! And my crafts reflect this.
Besides crafts, I like to get out in nature and enjoy the world we live in. I have a personal trainer for weightlifting and resistance training four times a week, as well as attend Zumba classes. I also have a little dog, Daisy, who keeps me company.
